2001 Cullen Diana Madeline Cabernet Merlot

Critic Reviews
96 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“Its sheer class shines through the trappings of extreme youth, a controlled explosion of blackcurrant, spice and blackberry, ripe tannins and French oak.”
96 Points - James Suckling
“This is showing very attractive savory notes of olives, iodine, morels, dried herbs and black and blue fruit. Silky yet firm with a broad tannin frame. Youthful and playful on the palate with a delicious finish. Softens at the end. 75% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now or hold. Screw cap.”
94 Points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
“Vanya also gave me a taste of the 2001 Diana Madeline, one of her best recent vintages of this wine. Very deep garnet black in color, it has complex, savory, meaty aromas with an undercurrent of Chinese dried plums and soy, opening-out with air to espresso, leather and tobacco. At 14% alcohol and with a full body, the rich palate gives concentrated fruit, medium-firm fine tannins, crisp acidity and a long, chewy finish. Drink it now to 2017+.”
94 Points - Jeremy Oliver, Vinous
“Full, deep red. Creamy perfume of sweet wet earth, cassis, mulberry, cherry and plums, tightly married with sweet mocha and chocolate. Sharply delineated flavors of small red and black berries, fine-grained oak and tobacco leaf, intermeshed with tightly knit, powdery tannins. Quite youthfully unevolved, but should build in structure as its ages, becoming more polished and powerful.”
