2002 Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Vintage Champagne

Critic Reviews
93 Points - Wine Spectator
“Floral and black licorice notes mix with rich flavors of black cherry, date and candied orange peel, with a hint of whole-grain toast. Dry and fine-grained, this vibrant wine ends with a subtle, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2020.”
89 Points - Josh Raynolds, Vinous
“Pale gold. Tangerine and white peach on the nose, with notes of chalk and cinnamon lending vivacity. Firm and tangy on entry, then gains flesh and sweetness in the middle palate and offers deeper pear and melon qualities. Nicely marries richness and energy, and finishes with good clarity and resonating notes of soft citrus and orchard fruits. I get more energy here than I've seen in many recent bottlings from this house.”
88 Points - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate
“The 2002 Vintage reveals ripe apricots and pears interwoven with floral, buttery aromatics. Most of the wine's appeal is upfront, as its persistence drops off quite a bit on the mid-palate. This is Lot 5102746, disgorged between February and March, 2006. In 2002, the blend is 60% Pinot Noir, 7% Pinot Meunier and 33% Chardonnay with 9 grams of dosage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012.”
