2020 Marchesi di Gresy Barbaresco Camp Gros Riserva

Critic Reviews
97 Points - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
“The Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Gresy 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga (with 8,000 bottles created) has the extra fruit concentration and weight that is characteristic of this MGA site. The wine stays faithful to a purist's Nebbiolo profile with tart cherry, grilled watermelon and grenadine. Little touches of blue flower and grilled herb appear on the back end of this firmly structured and cellar-worthy Riserva. This is a real beauty.”
95 Points - Aldo Fiordelli, James Suckling
“A leafy lightness dominates the nose with a whiff of mint, strawberries, red cherries and blood oranges enhanced by licorice. Chewy, biting tannins are slightly sticky from extraction yet good in the finish, refreshing and medium-bodied. Though well-packed and coated with fruit, this wine needs time for the structure to develop. Drinkable now but best from 2026.”
95 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
“The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Martinenga Camp Gros is a wild, expressive wine. Lavender, sage, menthol, licorice, plum, leather and dried herbs soar out of the glass. This site's classic youthful austerity comes through loud and clear, but the 2020 has an extra kick of mid-palate richness to provide balance. The 2020 spent one year in barrique and 1.5 years in cask. It's one of the most refined editions in recent memory.”
93 Points - Wine Spectator
“The cherry and plum flavors lean to the earthy side in a good way, grounding this smooth red and giving more basso profundo. Eucalyptus, tar and spice accents add complexity as this plays out on the finish. Best from 2026 through 2040. 667 cases made.”
