2022 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc

Critic Reviews
96 Points - Jim Gordon, James Suckling
“It's a rare white wine from a mostly red appellation, but Drouhin owns 14 hectares of Clos des Mouches and half of those are chardonnay. So rich, broad and ripe at first, and then braced by vivid, tangy acidity that brings out subtle nutmeg, ginger and toast accents. What a delicious, balanced and refreshing wine. Drink now or hold.”
94 Points - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
“Aromas of buttered orchard fruit, orange blossom, baking spices and toasted nuts introduce the 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc (Domaine), with a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's fleshy and layered while retaining nice tension and cut. The Drouhin's seven hectares of Chardonnay in this premier cru were harvested over 15 days. (92-94 pts)”
93 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous
“The 2022 Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc 1er Cru is quite powerful and concentrated on the nose-no shy retiring wallflower this-peach skin, citrus fruit, even hints of strawberry unfolding in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is very well balanced with a peachy entry, seductive tinned apricot and lime notes on the mid-palate, impressive weight with a keen thread of acidity. This is a lively, superb white '22 that will drink well for 15 to 20 years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.”
92 Points - Wine Spectator
“This seamless, silky white exudes floral, peach, honey, butterscotch and baking spice aromas and flavors. Open and fluid, with a vibrant structure and long, toasty aftertaste. Drink now through 2028. 250 cases imported.”
