Marchand & Burch is the partnership between Burgundian winemaker Pascal Marchand and Western Australia's Jeff Burch of Howard Park, and its Burgundy range gives West Australian drinkers a direct line to some of the Cote de Nuits' finest sites. Clos de la Roche is Morey-Saint-Denis's most celebrated Grand Cru, a rocky, structured vineyard that produces some of the longest-lived Pinot Noir in Burgundy. The 2022 Marchand & Burch Clos de la Roche Grand Cru earned 92-94 points from Neal Martin (Vinous), who found it cohesive and expressive, bold and assertive on the palate, and expects it to turn into a fine Clos de la Roche with time.

...conveys more red and blackberry fruit expression on the nose, with touches of sous-bois coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, quite bold and assertive... it should turn into a fine Clos de la Roche - Neal Martin, Vinous (92-94 pts)

A Grand Cru built for the cellar, from a house with a genuine Western Australian connection.

Critic Reviews

94 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous

“The 2022 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru contains 10-15% whole bunches and is matured entirely in new wood. This is more cohesive and conveys more red and blackberry fruit expression on the nose, with touches of sous-bois coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, quite bold and assertive. The oak will require 4 or 5 years to fully integrate, but it should turn into a fine Clos de la Roche - better than the Clos Saint-Denis. (92-94 pts)”
