Average Critic Score: 97.0/100

The 2023 Block 5 Pinot Noir from Bindi, the Dhillon family's Macedon Ranges estate. Block 5, planted in 1992 on a sheltered, north-facing, intensely quartz-riddled half hectare, is widely regarded as Bindi's finest block, darker, spicier and more powerful. Rated 97 points by both James Halliday and Huon Hooke.

"Everything about this wine, I love: its elegance, its precision and definition." - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion

Built to age; drink 2026 to 2038.

Critic Reviews

97 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion

“Everything about this wine, I love: its elegance, its precision and definition. It feels light at first but flavours build, the cherries and pips, the sweet nutty spices, the dash of Campari and fleck of fresh herbs. It's on the lighter side of medium bodied, with superfine, powdery tannins and matching acidity all heading to a lingering finish. Closure: Diam. 12.5% alcohol. (Drink by 2028)”

97 Points - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Deep-ish red with a good purple tint; black cherry and blackberry aromas, the flavour bold and medium-full in body, with mysterious depths and plenty of tannin making for a more structured pinot. Foresty underbrush characters come with time in the glass. A bigger, more robust and concentrated style for this maker and promises to have a long and rewarding career. It's still emerging at this stage and shows great potential. (Drink 2026-2038)”
