Meursault's most storied address, now in the hands of Lea and Pierre Lafon. The village wine is no ordinary village wine: it blends old-vine parcels in En La Barre, En Luraules, Les Crotots and Clos de la Baronne with the young vines of Charmes and Perrieres planted in 2016 and 2017. Whole-bunch pressed, fermented in barrel on wild yeast, then two winters on fine lees with no new oak.
It has a harmonious, quite intense bouquet, with walnut and hazelnut infusing the citrus fruit. Lively. Sapid in the mouth, the palate is well balanced with admirable mineralite, satisfying weight and lovely cohesion on the finish. - Neal Martin, Vinous (91-93 pts)
2023 was warm and generous, and Lafon picked in the last days of August to stay ahead of a September heat spike. Sarah Marsh MW gave it 90 points for the World of Fine Wine, and Matthew Hayes 16+/20 for JancisRobinson.com. Christy Canterbury MW named the domaine one of her top ten Cote de Beaune white wine producers of 2023.
