Average Critic Score: 90.0/100

Only the second vintage of this cuvee. Lafon took on a parcel of Champ Croyon, on the lower slope of Puligny-Montrachet, under a new lease from 2022 - a genuinely rare thing in a village where land almost never changes hands.

Pale lemon yellow. A very attractive bouquet, floral and fine, new mown hay, with a really fine elegance on the palate. And properly persistent. This is excellent and reflects its origins very well. - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (90-92 pts)

In 2023 Pierre Lafon finished the elevage in stainless steel rather than barrel, which he said focuses the wine and brings back its tension. William Kelley scored it up to 91 for the Wine Advocate and Sarah Marsh MW 89 for the World of Fine Wine. Christy Canterbury MW named the domaine one of her top ten Cote de Beaune white wine producers of 2023.

Critic Reviews

92 Points - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

“Pale lemon yellow. A very attractive bouquet, floral and fine, new mown hay, with a really fine elegance on the palate. And properly persistent. This is excellent and reflects its origins very well. Reviewed Oct 2024. Drink 2027-2030. (90-92 pts)”

91 Points - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

“Another small new cuvee for Lafon is the 2023 Puligny-Montrachet, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless white redolent of peach, pear, freshly baked bread and white flowers. With good energy and precision, it's a very pretty wine in the making. Reviewed Jan 2025. (89-91 pts)”

89 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous

“The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a subtle peachy nose with touches of yellow flowers - quite seductive and actually Meursault-like! The palate is concentrated with notable fatness, lower in acidity than I expected, with tropical notes on the finish. This is earlier-drinking than the previous vintage but seductive nonetheless. Reviewed Jan 2025. Drink 2025-2033. (87-89 pts)”

88 Points - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

“A more elegant and notably more floral-suffused nose speaks of spiced tea and orange peel. The rich and equally generous medium-bodied flavors are almost lavish on the palate before terminating in a slightly finer and youthfully austere finale that is firm enough to need 5 to 8 years of keeping. Reviewed Jun 2025. Drink 2029+.”
