1997 Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon

Critic Reviews
94 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep purple-red; sweet cassis fruit and powerful but integrated oak on the bouquet lead into a power-packed palate, rich and deep, with tannins providing a sledgehammer finish. History shows that the tannins will in fact soften.”
90 Points - Angus Hughson, Vinous
“This 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon John Riddoch is showing its age but still offers plenty of interest. Overall, it's an elegant package with sweet cassis, fruit pastille, leafy pine aromas with old cigars in the background. It retains good purity of slightly simple fruit flavours which are starting to fade. Herbal elements are rising, and coming to the fore, as is a backbone of sinewy tannins suggesting an early drinking window.”
85 Points - Wine Spectator
“Dark, dense and supple, soft enough to be almost watery, with odd mint and vegetal overtones to the ripe Cabernet fruit. Drink now through 2007. 8,532 cases made.”
