2022 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes

Critic Reviews
97 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous
“The 2022 Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has the finest bouquet from Domaine Ponsot this year: ebullient black cherries and violets on the beautifully-defined nose. Very flamboyant with losing sight of its terroir. The medium-bodied palate is very tensile and energetic with finely-knit tannins and a deftly crafted, sorbet-fresh finish. This is a superb Clos de la Roche that should age with style. (95-97 pts)”
96 Points - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
“The 2022 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvee Vieilles Vignes is a powerful wine, though comparatively speaking only a middleweight in the context of years such as 2018, 2019 and 2020, and it's more suave and integrated out of the gates than those vintages. Offering up deep aromas of ripe berry fruit mingled with baking spices, rose petals, orange zest and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, layered and velvety, with a fleshy core of fruit, supple tannins and a nicely cohesive finish. (94-96 pts)”
95 Points - Wine Spectator
“Ripe and supple, exhibiting black cherry, blackberry, plum, mineral, tobacco and spice flavors. Almost feels accessible for its beautiful balance and enticing fruit, yet the finish reveals structure and a sense of reserve. A jolt of vibrant acidity keeps this fresh. Best from 2029 through 2048.”
