Why we follow Château Latour

The estate

One of the original First Growths, Château Latour sits at the southern edge of Pauillac beside the Gironde, its tower looking over the great L'Enclos vineyard. Owned since 1993 by François Pinault's Artémis group, in 2012 it left the En Primeur system to release its wines only when they are ready to drink.

The vineyards

Around 90 hectares of deep gravel over clay, Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. The heart is the walled L'Enclos around the château, source of the Grand Vin in the greatest years.

In the vineyard

Organic in L'Enclos, with biodynamic trials

In the glass

Latour is the most powerful and structured of the First Growths, dense, tannic and built for the very long haul, with cassis, leather, graphite and remarkable depth. Patience is rewarded like almost no other wine.

With Lamont’s

Offered through the Private Cellar Selection, generally following the April release. Register your interest and we will contact you when the next allocation is confirmed.

Because Latour is now released only when mature, parcels are small and irregular, and typically reach us in spring. Register your interest to be offered the next release ahead of general availability.
