Why we follow Château Mouton Rothschild

The estate

The great modern story of Bordeaux: promoted from Second to First Growth in 1973, the only change ever made to the 1855 classification, under Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Its labels, commissioned each vintage from a leading artist, are collected in their own right.

The vineyards

Around 90 hectares in Pauillac, Cabernet Sauvignon dominant on classic Médoc gravel.

In the glass

Mouton is the most flamboyant of the First Growths: rich, exotic and full-bodied, with cassis, spice, cedar and a hedonistic depth of fruit, framed by firm tannins that carry it for decades.
