This village Nuits is drawn from old vines on the Longecourts and plateau plots, and it carries the firm, savoury character the appellation is known for. Dark cherry and a touch of spice and earth, structured but ripe, with the depth that old vines bring. A satisfying, classically built Nuits to enjoy over the coming years.

Domaine Patrice et Maxime Rion (Premeaux-Prissey)
Founded 1990, now led by Maxime Rion, with finely perfumed reds across Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny. Holds Clos Saint Marc, the smallest monopole in Nuits; a serious family address on a rising trajectory.

Critic Reviews

93 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous

“The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes comes from the plateau (one-third) and the rest from the lieu-dit of Longecourts. This was completely de-stemmed. The pure and delicate bouquet unfolds in the glass: crushed limestone and black cherries, just a hint of licorice emerging with time. The medium-bodied palate brings dark berry fruit laced with blood orange and touches of granite, very strict and focused with a tang of marmalade towards the finish. It will require 4-5 years in bottle. (Drink between 2027-2045) Original score: 91-93 points”

93 Points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

“A blend of purchased fruit from Les Longecourts, and one third their own Plateaux vineyard. All destemmed. Deep crimson purple. The bouquet shows a firm yet full dark red fruit, fairly classical Nuits-St-Georges, fully ripe plums, a balanced tannic structure behind, with adequate acidity. The finish maintains very well. Original score: 90-93 points”

91 Points - Allen Meadows, Burghound

“A fresh and distinctly earthy mix is comprised by notes of poached plum, black raspberry and forest floor. The delicious and energetic middleweight flavors are not especially concentrated but there is unusually good refinement for the appellation, along with an appealing minerality on the mildly austere finale where a touch of warmth gradually emerges. (Drink starting 2030) Original score: 89-91 points”
