Charmes-Chambertin is the domaine's grand cru and the summit of its range, from a small old-vine parcel in the Mazoyeres sector replanted around 1960. Of Gevrey's nine grand crus this is the most openly charming, while the Mazoyeres ground lends density and grip beneath the perfume. Raised entirely in new oak and bottled without fining or filtration, it is the longest-lived wine in this release and the one to bury deepest in the cellar.

Domaine Humbert Frères (Gevrey-Chambertin)
A tiny seven-hectare Pinot Noir estate run by brothers Frédéric and Emmanuel Humbert, cousins of the Dugat family. Old vines, low yields and a traditional, unshowy cellar make deep, structured wines built for the cellar.

Critic Reviews

92 Points - Allen Meadows, Burghound

“Generous wood stops short of dominating the ripe and fresh nose of poached plum, dark pinot fruit, anise and warm earth. There is both better volume and richness to the solidly powerful broad-shouldered flavors that possess slightly better mid-palate density before terminating in a balanced bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. A few years of cellaring should help to add depth. (Drink starting 2030) Original score: 90-92 points”
