Why we follow Mount Mary

The estate

Founded in 1971 by Dr John Middleton and his wife Marli on a Coldstream site in the Yarra Valley. Sam Middleton has been head winemaker since 2011, with his father David Middleton as chief executive. Mount Mary is known for the Bordeaux-blend Quintet and the barrel-fermented white blend Triolet, both made in very small volumes. The four estate wines are released together once a year at a members' event the estate has held since the mid-1970s.

Availability depends on what arrives and how many customers are waiting. In some years there is very little to go round.

Our team considers purchase history, genuine interest and intended enjoyment. We would rather a case went to someone who will open it and tell us what they thought than to whoever asked first.
