About this Wine:
The La Spinetta estate has produced a vast array of great wines expressing an inimitable approachability and robust style. The Barbaresco Bordini opens to an ample perfume of Nebbiolo aromas spanning from cherry to plum, to spicy licorice with raspberry and rose nuances. Red fruit flavours are well integrated with a solid, mid-weight palate. The wine is lengthy on the palate thanks to the density and quality of its texture, making for an elegant and moorish expression. (Langtons)

La Spinetta is a relative newcomer for Piedmont being founded only 43 years ago! The vineyards all possess a bit of age (35 - 65yrs) and all sites are amongst the best locations of their respective appellations.

"Year after year Giorgio Rivetti's Piedmont winery has earned a fame that has made it a leading ambassador of Langhe wine thro ughout the world, and the labels with the rhinoceros are present in the finest restaurants on all continents."Gambero Rosso

100% Nebbiolo from the Bordini site, 270m high in the village of Neive in the Barbaresco production zone. It's a four hectare south-facing site on calcareous soils, and the vines have an average age of between 26 and 29 years. The site is sustainably farmed with no use of chemical herbicides or pesticides.

Critic Reviews

92 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

“The 2018 Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is a fine introduction to the Spinetta Barbarescos. Quite unusually, though, the 2018 is nervy, tightly wound and in need of a bit of cellaring. Time in the glass brings out scents of rose petal, mint, lavender, spice and orange peel, hinting at what lies ahead. Giorgio Rivetti describes 2018 as a year with no excess heat and good diurnal shifts at the end of the season, which is a pretty charitable view of how things unfolded. As for the Barbarescos, the 2018s are terrific. Over the last few vintages Rivetti has moved away from the more full-throttle style of his earlier wines. That, along with the style of 2018 yielded a very pretty set of lithe, elegant Barbarescos. The wines go into barrel not totally dry and show some French oak inflections, but less so than in the past, especially now that there is some larger-format wood in the cellar. I also tasted the 2010 Riserva Barbarescos, wines that give excellent insight into the more pushed style of that era. The wines can be summarized more or less like this: 1) Bordini - the entry level; 2) Gallina - purity of fruit, sensuality and great aging capacity; 3) Starder - intense red fruit with the power and breadth of Neive and 4) Valeirano -the linear drive and dark fruit/spice character of Treiso.”
