2024 Domaine Lamy-Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Rouge

Just under a hectare blended across four climats within the Morgeot premier cru - Morgeot itself, Guerchere, Ez Crottes and Petit Clos - so the wine draws on both the heavier lower sector and the white marl above the road. Clay marl, south-east facing, vines planted in 1976 and cordon-pruned.

Pretty mid purple. Perfumed raspberry fruit, softer and more graceful than it would have been in the past. Some tannins here but not rustic, good acidity and fair length. Relatively classic of its appellation. - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (89-91 pts)

Twelve months in oak, 25% new. The domaine finds dried fruit, liquorice and forest floor over a fine tannic frame, with cherry on the finish, and puts the drinking window at five to twelve years.
