2024 Domaine Lamy-Pillot Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Le Charmois Blanc

A small holding of just under half a hectare in Le Charmois, one of Saint-Aubin's most highly regarded premiers crus. It sits exactly on the Chassagne boundary, alongside the premier cru Les Chaumees, on east-facing limestone marl over light brown earth. That cool eastern aspect is what gives Charmois its tension and grip. Vines planted between 1971 and 1990.

Pale colour, with an engaging nose, the apples showing just a little more ripeness, along with a little touch of greengage, slightly juicier than the others hence more persistent. This would be my pick. - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (91 pts)

Twelve months in oak, 30% new. Morris named it his choice of the 2024 Lamy-Pillot range and suggests drinking from 2027 to 2030.
