2024 Domaine Lamy-Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 'Pot Bois' Blanc

Le Pot Bois is a 1.7-hectare village lieu-dit high on the limestone hillside above Chassagne - cool, stony and very free-draining, planted between 1970 and 2002. Charles Curtis MW places the fruit at the very top of the slope; Jasper Morris notes it comes from the less vigorous plants on the limestone upper hillside. It is a village wine that consistently drinks above its classification.

Still pale but with a lemon edge. I find immediately more character in the nose, compared to the blended Chassagne-Montrachet. Le Pot Bois has space to build: rather than being a bit tight, it is gracious, with ripe lemons and a flowing finish. Twelve to eighteen months in barrel with no more than 25% new oak. The domaine describes the Pot Bois sector as taut and vivacious, needing two or three years before the secondary aromas arrive, and drinking well across two to fifteen years.
