2024 Domaine Lamy-Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc

Domaine Lamy-Pillot was founded in 1973 by Rene Lamy, who had been vigneron at Domaine du Duc de Magenta, and Marie-Therese Pillot. Fifteen hectares across Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, now run by their daughters Florence and Karine with Sebastien Caillat on winemaking, and noticeably sharper since 2021: picking into small baskets, sorting tables, gravity in place of pumping. The village blanc is a hectare blended from Les Houilleres, Les Essarts, Les Pierres and Les Champs de Morgeot, east to south-east on limestone marl, from vines planted between 1975 and 1986.

Almost colourless. Light fresh apples on the nose. A little riper behind, and some oak playing round at the edges. Picks up on the second half, quite stylish. - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (89 pts)

Twelve months in oak, 30% new. 2024 was a brutal season in the Cote de Beaune - frost, hail, poor flowering and relentless mildew cut the crop hard - and the whites that came through are pale, fresh and classically proportioned. Jasper Morris suggests 2027 to 2030.
