“Deep, rich red with a fleck of purple, excellent colour for its age. The bouquet is tremendously rich in fruitcake, Christmas pudding/panforte kinds of aromas, chocolate too, and dried figs. A hint of mint emerged later. A lot of oak has been employed, but it’s not overly oaky as such. A big, solid, full-bodied wine of concentration and density, with a long, resonant finish.”
