Average Critic Score: 98.33/100

The early warmth and dry conditions of the season resulted in a wine that is concentrated, while superb natural acidity has preserved the fine structure that defines Margaret River Chardonnay.

"This HEYTESBURY is an extraordinary demonstration of the powerful fruit from a unique vintage. Its rich, wild and complex character hangs off a strong line of acidity and classic phenolic tension." — Virginia Willcock, Chief Winemaker.

Crafted from a meticulous selection of Gingin clone HEYTESBURY plots, the fruit was harvested by hand, whole bunch pressed and wild fermented to preserve its power and texture. The wine matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (53% new) then harmonised on lees in tank for six months.

Critic Reviews

99 Points - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Review

“An extraordinary wine of tension, energy and power... These wines have certainly become slightly more generous in recent years and allow the full expression of the Gingin clone from these distinct sites. It's another outstanding wine. Dare I say it, but this could be the finest Heytesbury yet.”

98 Points - Jeni Port, The Wine Pilot

“In the glass, the vintage delivers one hell of a chardonnay: rich, complex and yet finely balanced. It could balance on a pin such is the wine's near perfect composition and keenly detailed acidity... The stage is set for one exciting Heytesbury chardonnay production.”

98 Points - Andrew Caillard, The Vintage Journal

“Pale colour. Lovely pure grapefruit nectarine tonic water aromas with hints of marzipan. Supple and minerally with ample grapefruit, lemon curd, nectarine flavours, fine looseknit chalky textures, attractive mid palate richness, a touch of vanilla/marzipan and underlying saline/crunchy acidity. Super long and tangy at the finish, giving the wine freshness and mineral length. Will develop further with bottle age. A reference Margaret River Chardonnay. Drink now – 2040.”
