1959 Penfolds Grange Hermitage Bin 46 Shiraz | Hidden Grange

Critic Reviews
96 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous
“The 1959 Penfolds Grange had tough competition being served alongside 1959 Cheval Blanc and Palmer however, it more than held its own. This was one of the “hidden” releases since Max Schubert was forbidden by his paymasters to make unfortified wines, bottled in 1960. Even after so many years the 1959 is sublime, sporting a soft, lush bouquet of red fruit tinged with VA, hints of prune and nougat, warm bricks on a summer’s day. The palate conveys a sense of volume and concentration, clove and garrigues-tinged red fruit, rounded in texture and maybe just losing a little delineation towards the caressing, quite voluminous finish. But what a fabulous Grange, a privilege to drink after all these years.”
93 Points - Andrew Caillard, The Vintage Journal
“At the end of its optimum life. Some bottles holding up with advanced maturity but fine sinewy tannins. Very Rare. 90% Shiraz, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.”
