Average Critic Score: 96.0/100

The 2023 Arnaud Mortet Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru is made in pedicel style from old vines at the Griotte end of this celebrated Grand Cru. Neal Martin of Vinous awarded it 94-96 points, Jasper Morris 94-96 points. Matthew Hayes scored it 17+/20 for jancisrobinson.com.

A perfumed bouquet with red berry fruit, blackberry, pressed violet petals and a touch of blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with more sucrosity on the entry compared to other cuvees, but this remains tensile and focused. It concludes with a harmonious, satin-textured finish. Wonderful. - Neal Martin, Vinous (94-96 pts)

Critic Reviews

96 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous

96 Points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

“Made in pedicel style, from old vines at the Griotte end. A whiter soil than is typical for Charmes, more of a limestone feel. Here the depth of fruit makes itself felt even on the nose. This is more in an alpine strawberry red fruit resister with a feeling of mineral limestone emerging behind. (94-96 pts)”

96 Points - Tim Atkin MW, timeatkin.com

“Always a generous wine, the nose is downright explosive this year. Black and red cherries, blood orange and sweet spice lift from the glass. The palate is stuffed with perfectly ripe and notably dense fruit. There is ample muscle and sinew here, and it is nicely counter-balanced by lightly chewy tannins and lifted, refreshing acidity. This has tremendous potential.”
