Overview:

Now much softer, these are very different wines to those I tasted a decade ago, more terroir expression, more red rather than black fruit, less gloss, less weight but more transparency. I much prefer the style that he makes these days and even though I felt a couple of cuvées displayed some over-ripeness, generally, these come highly recommended.

“70% whole bunch with minimal punch down to avoid the wine becoming too muscular. Even so, the 2023 Genavrières has a noticeably darker purple colour with ruby rim. There is possibly an even greater volume of fruit here than my usual favourite of Faconnières, with summer pudding black fruits and a fresher redcurrant note to join in.”
