Lamont's Pre-Arrival Offer

Planted in 1957, Parafada was the Massolino family's first prime parcel in Serralunga and is still home to their oldest vines (66 years old). Located between Gabutti and Lazzarito, the 1.2-hectare parcel rises steeply from 300 to 340 metres and faces due south, catching the full face of the sun. The aspect, old vines and dense clay/marl/lime-infused soils (Formazione di Lequio) produce a denser, more powerful wine than Margheria. Fermented exclusively in large oak fermenters and aged exclusively in large casks. Typically, the Massolino Barolo cru that requires the most time, the 2022 is already drinking beautifully!

Critic Reviews

96 Points - Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

“Pouring a pink-tinged ruby hue, the 2022 Barolo Parafada comes from 75- to 80-year-old vines. Aromas of red cherries, cinnamon candy, orange peel, fresh herbs, and spice lift from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it shows impressive energy with the classic structure of Serralunga, supported by refreshing acidity and defined tannins. The finish is long and precise. Drink 2027-2042.”

94 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

“The 2022 Barolo Parafada is a sensual, open-knit wine. Sweet red cherry, cedar, pipe tobacco and mint open with some coaxing. The Parafada is distinguished by its soft contours and exceptional balance within the context of the year. Older vines confer notable breadth, which builds through to the expansive, resonant finish.”

91 Points - Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com

“Just mid ruby and a little more evolved than Margheria, and with orange tinges. A little voluptuous on the nose with concentrated red fruit, but still not entirely open. Just a suggestion of menthol. Expressive raspberry fruit on the palate with lots of fine, chewy tannins. Long and deep and with plenty of supple acidity. Already approachable. Original score: 17+/20”
