Average Critic Score: 98.0/100

Sourced from the Stonegarden Vineyard in Eden Valley, planted in 1858, Lamella draws from one of Australia's most ancient Shiraz sites. The elevated altitude and ancient soils of Eden Valley bring a distinctive minerality and floral lift to the wine, complemented by 100% whole bunch fermentation and the 542-day elevage common to all Standish cuvees in 2024.

The 2024 season across the Barossa and Eden Valley was marked by early frosts, low yields and compressed ripening, producing wines of striking precision and intensity. The ancient Stonegarden vines, with their deep root systems, were particularly well suited to the dry conditions. Dan Standish describes it as "an excellent Barossa vintage."

Rated 98 points by Erin Larkin (Wine Advocate), who describes a wine felt as much as tasted, with ferrous tannins, graphite and spice that linger viscerally across every sip. Stuart McCloskey (The Vinorium) calls the 2024 "the best Lamella I have sampled to date," praising extraordinary fruit quality, creamy texture and a magnetic quality that draws you back glass after glass.

Critic Reviews

98 Points - Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate

“The 2024 Lamella Shiraz features 100% whole bunches and offers a profusion of tannins, spice, layers of fruit and length. This is gravelly and mineral, with ferrous tannins, graphite and dried rose petals woven through the finish. This is a wine that you feel as much as you taste and smell. The tannins linger on the palate and help the flavors remain firmly wedged in the memory. Notes of licorice, fennel, caraway and timut pepper coat the finish.”

Stuart McCloskey, The Vinorium

“From the first swirl, the bouquet is intoxicating, heady, expansive and utterly captivating. A kaleidoscope of red and blue fruits, fresh raspberry, black cherry, plum and mulberry unfold into layers of cherry confit, raspberry liqueur and the sweetest spice. The ancient vines of Stonegarden (dating back to 1858) present themselves clearly; the layers of minerality are unmissable. The palate is creamy, velvety, almost indulgent in texture, yet held perfectly in check. The best Lamella I have sampled to date.”
