2024 Standish 'The Standish' Shiraz

Sourced from the Laycock Family Vineyard in Greenock, The Standish is Dan Standish's benchmark single-vineyard Shiraz and one of the most compelling expressions of Barossa Valley produced today. The 2024 features 50% whole bunches in the ferment, up from 30% the previous vintage, lending texture, structure and spice to the wine without obscuring its clear sense of place.

The 2024 growing season across the Barossa was defined by early frosts and a dry growing period, delivering low yields and compressed ripening. Dan describes the result as "an excellent Barossa vintage" with nice even ripening allowing every vineyard to be picked at optimum readiness. All five Standish cuvees spent 542 days in barrel through malolactic fermentation and slow oak evolution before bottling, building complexity and composure in equal measure.

Rated 98 points by Erin Larkin (Wine Advocate), who calls it "impressive and impactful" with an unmistakable sense of place. Stuart McCloskey (The Vinorium) describes it as "a profoundly complete Shiraz of immense scale and detail," sitting comfortably among Australia's elite and built for the long haul.
