Average Critic Score: 93.0/100

The 2009 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon earned 95 points from James Halliday and 91 from Campbell Mattinson.

Positive red-purple colour; in the mainstream of Moss Wood style: supple, round and impeccably balanced, yet with regal cabernet expression. Small wonder that Moss Wood has one of the most loyal mail/email lists in Australia, and this release will please its followers as much as any prior year. Special. - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion (95 pts)

91 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

“"Grown, vintaged and bottled at Domain Moss Wood." It's long been one of the smoothest "superfine" cabernets in Australia. It opens with a rude hit of vanillin, malty, creamy oak - but given some air the fruit and the oak marry nicely together. It's assertively oaked but not necessarily excessively-oaked. Fruit-wise it's a swarm of rich, blue-and-black-berried goodness, with bay leaves and dried tobacco notes suggesting that complexity, in time, is a shoe-in. (Original score: 91+)”
